To become a London cabbie, you're required by TfL (Transport for London) to learn what's known as The Blue Book. It's a collection of routes designed to build a detailed mental map of London.
Once you've learnt the routes, you'll attend a series of oral examinations where your knowledge is tested by experienced London cabbies.
Pass them all, and congratulations... you're finally free to hit the streets and start earning a living.
